Two men have been assaulted and robbed in Salisbury's Market Place.

The first victim, in his 50s, was attacked by another man close to the Guildhall at around 9.30pm on July 13th, and suffered an injury to his face.

Wiltshire Police believe the men are known to each other.

A witness to that incident then called 999 to report what happened, but was assaulted by the same man, who tried to take his rucksack.

A man in his 30s has since been arrested on suspicion of assault, and been released on conditional bail while enquiries are ongoing.

Officers say they're sure there were further witnesses and they're keen to hear from anyone who can help.

They're asking those with information, or phone footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 54230073552.

You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
