Two men have been sentenced for dangerous overtakes on the A303, which came close to ending in a head-on collision.

The incident happened on the stretch between Longbarrow roundabout and Winterbourne Stoke on Sunday 25th September 2022.

51 year old Chubby Isaac from Kirby Road in Dartford overtook a lorry, and clipped the front of it to avoid crashing into a vehicle coming the other way.

Isaac's car left the road as a result.

He's now been sentenced at Salisbury Magistrates Court to an 18 month disqualification, as well as being ordered to carry out 135 hours of unpaid work and pay almost £200 in court costs, after being found guilty of dangerous driving.

Isaac's car was following a van which also overtook the lorry on solid white lines.

That was being driven by Bronzell Obey, who's 42 and from Firs Lane in Potter's Bar.

He's been found guilty of careless driving and given a fine, as well as four points on his licence.

PC Tom Webster, of the Amesbury Response Team said:

“The actions taken by these two drivers were selfish and thoughtless.

"They put themselves, the occupants of the other vehicles and the public at huge risk. It is incredibly fortunate that nothing more serious happened.”
