Two men have been arrested in Salisbury, after police officers stopped a stolen car being driven in the city.

The Toyota Prius had been taken from London back in August, but was seen here last night (Thursday 11th January).

Officers tracked it going along the A36 towards Wiltshire, with efforts made to stop it.

The vehicle made off after ramming a police car.

The car was then tracked to Adlam Way in St Peter's Place, where it had been abandoned.

Two suspects were then searched for by Wiltshire Police Dog Skye, before the police helicopter traced them hiding in a nearby garden.

Two men, aged 19 and 20 and both from Salisbury, were arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent, failing to stop for police, and dangerous driving.

One of them was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving, following a roadside wipe.

They both remain in custody for questioning.
