A 22-year-old man from Trowbridge has been jailed for nearly five years after deliberately driving his car into two people in Salisbury earlier this year.

Braden Lynam, of Woodbridge Close, admitted to grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm and causing serious injury by dangerous driving in April and has now been sentenced to four years and eight months behind bars.

He's also be disqualified from driving for five years.

On 27th March this year, Lynam was involved in a physical altercation with a man in his 40s in Salisbury. A woman in her 20s attempted to intervene and break up the confrontation on South Western Road.

Following this, in an act of retaliation, Lynam used his car as a weapon. He drove his blue Ford Focus at the pair at high speed, with the crash leaving the man with life-changing leg injuries and the woman with serious but non-life-changing injuries.

He fled the scene and dumped his car on Churchfields Road, going on the run from Police for four days before being arrested on 31st March.

Investigating officer DC Louise Butler said: “Lynam’s actions were horrendous and have resulted in one of the victims suffering life-changing leg injuries. Even so, it is fortunate that it is not a lot worse. He could easily have taken two lives.

“Lynam then failed to stop at the scene, leaving his two victims by the side of the road with serious injuries.

“There is no place for this sort of violence in our county and I’m pleased he has now been jailed.”
