£16 million Trowbridge health centre will include urgent care services
The local Integrated Care Board's confirmed the details
It has been confirmed that the £16 million health centre under construction in Trowbridge will provide urgent care for minor injuries.
Councillors expressed the need to retain a minor injuries unit in the new centre at the health select committee meeting on Wednesday (March 12th).
Wiltshire’s interim director at the Integrated Care Board (ICB), Caroline Holmes, told attendees that the urgent care service “may well be enhanced” from the existing Trowbridge Community Hospital.
Cllr David Vigar noted that although the current minor injuries unit is in need of replacement, the work carried out there is “amazing”.
He said: “It acts to prevent people having to go to Bath, it gives them good treatment, close to home.”
Cllr Vigar asked for assurance that a similar service would still be carried out on the new site.
Ms Holmes said: “There absolutely will be urgent care services located in the Trowbridge Integrated Care Centre.
“The exact make up of those is being worked through at the moment. It may well be enhanced from what it is now.”
During the meeting, she also explained that the centre was “starting to take shape” and that the ICB was “excited about it going live” from the beginning of 2026.
