A 'much-admired' pilot at Wiltshire Air Ambulance has died, at the age of just 42.
Rob Collingwood passed away yesterday (Tuesday 4th April) following a short battle with cancer.
The charity say they're 'heartbroken' at the loss.
Rob joined Wiltshire Air Ambulance in 2016, after 10 years of service with the British Army.
He flew Lynx helicopters in the Middle Wallop based Army Air Corps, and worked to fly staff to North Sea oil rigs for a year.
In a statement, Wiltshire Air Ambulance said:
"Rob loved working for the charity and the staff loved him. He was so passionate about our cause and understood the importance of being a team player.
"He had a real passion for environmental sustainability, a strong faith and was always positive. Most of all, Rob enjoyed keeping the team fed with his famous South African braais (barbeques).
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Rob’s wife, children, family and friends at this time. The charity will be providing support to all our staff during this period of mourning."
Hampshire's Air Ambulance and the Chief Executive of the South Western Ambulance Trust have been among those sending their condolences:
