Tribute to elderly man who died in A303 crash at Chicklade

Family of 88 year old victim release statement

Brian Mercer died at the scene of the accident, on April 12th.

The pensioner was at the wheel of a Honda Jazz which was involved in a collision with a Ford S-max, Citroen C5 and a heavy goods vehicle.

Mr Mercer's family have released the following tribute:

"It is with deepest shock and sorrow that the family share with you the death of Brian Mercer, a much-loved father, grandfather and uncle, who sadly and unexpectedly passed away on Monday 12th April at the age of 88. "

"Brian, from Monkton Park, Chippenham, was a regular church goer and an active member of the local community and his good nature and humour will be missed by the many lives he touched."

INVESTIGATION INTO CRASH CONTINUES

A woman in her 50s, who was a passenger in the Honda Jazz, was also left seriously injured.

Wiltshire Police's Collision Investigation Unit is continuing to carry out detailed enquiries in relation to the cause of the collision.
