New Forest District Council is warning that the toxic Hemlock plants have been identified in Fordingbridge - and you're urged NOT to eat them.

They've been spotted at Sweatford Water Meadows off Green Lane, and can easily be mistaken for things like wild carrot or cow parsley.

You're told to avoid areas where any of these species appear to be growing.

The District Council have said:

"Although we work to remove poisonous species from our Public Open Spaces, please be aware that these are native wildflowers that recur naturally and are very difficult to eradicate.

"Should you experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness or seizures within an hour of ingesting any plants on site please call 999 immediately."

Hemlock plants are also important food sources for butterflies, including some listed species.
