A new stainglass window costing a quarter of a million pounds has been unveiled at a Church in Tisbury.

The new east window at St John the Baptist Parish Church has finally been completed, 15 years after fundraising for it began.

It's been made possible by people sponsoring the glass in memory of a loved one, a family, or just for the joy of being part of the project.

As a memorial window, the names of the people remembered, and those of their sponsors, will be collated in an accompanying memorial book to be on permanent display in the church.

In 2018, designer Tom Denny said this “The possibility of making a great East Window for St John's, Tisbury, is extraordinary. The stories and meanings embedded in the window should be expected to reward many encounters. The theme is “Seeing ”. Seeing the Glory of God; epiphanies in ordinary and extraordinary moments in life. This is expressed in the centre of the window in the story of the Transfiguration of Christ, divinity seen amongst us.”

It will be dedicated in a special service on Sunday 9th February 2025 at 3pm.
