The British Army has "apologised unreservedly" after two Tidworth-based soldiers reportedly attended a party in Nazi uniform for a Halloween party.
An online report by a newspaper included pictures of two men with swastika armbands and caps with Nazi symbols on them.
It is reported that the two men are from the Queens Royal Hussars, based in Tidworth, Wiltshire.
An army spokesperson said: “As soon as they became aware of the incident, the unit’s chain of command acted immediately to inform the Royal Military Police and a formal investigation is now under way" said an army spokesperson.
The two men remain unnamed but the army have said: "Their actions demonstrated serious and significant shortfalls in judgement and conduct."
The Queen's Royal Hussars is a prestigious armoured regiment that uses battle tanks. It's based next to the Salisbury plain training area in Tidworth.
An army spokesperson added: “We apologise unreservedly for the unacceptable behaviour of these two individuals and the offence that it will undoubtedly cause.
"We won’t comment further while that investigation is ongoing.”
