Natalie Burwood, from Talavera Way in Tidworth, has been banned from driving for three years after being found behind the wheel of a vehicle over the legal alcohol limit.
In the evening of Saturday 17th October 2020, PC Emma Smith from Wiltshire Police noticed a VW Caddy van driving in the opposite direction with no headlights on, no front number plate and sparks coming from underneath the vehicle.
She then followed the van before stopping it on Pennings Road in Tidworth.
The 36 year old driver carried out a roadside breath test which showed 152 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millimetres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
It was also noticed that a road sign had been wedged underneath after the car had mounted a kerb, driven up a pavement and taking out numerous road work signs, nearly hitting a set of traffic lights,
She was arrested at the scene and taken to custody where another breath test was carried out.
This one returned a result of 121 micrograms, which is three and a half times over the drink drive limit.
Burwood has also been ordered to pay costs of more than £100 and fined £224.
Following the sentencing, PC Emma Smith said:
"The actions of this driver on this occasion no doubt put members of the public at risk.
She provided an evidential reading of over three and and half times the legal limit which is shocking.
This court result reflects the seriousness of drink driving and hopefully will give the defendant time to reflect on what happened which could have had much more serious consequences."
