A new specialist SEND centre is being opened in Wiltshire to provide support for children under five years old with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Wiltshire Council is collaborating with Dingley's Promise, a national provider of specialist SEND support, to set up the centre in Tidworth.

Set to open in January 2026, the facility at Wylye Road will be the fifth such centre operated by Wiltshire Council, with Dingley’s Promise bringing their extensive experience to enhance provision.

The site will cater for around 10 places per session, focusing on early identification of children’s needs and providing tailored support for developmental progress.

The new centre will deliver an inclusive curriculum designed to inspire children, foster independence, and build confidence, ensuring adaptability to meet each child’s individual needs and motivations.

Families in the area will also benefit from outreach services and signposting aimed at supporting children with SEND.

Expanding SEND support

This Tidworth centre marks the 11th specialist setting operated by Dingley’s Promise, further expanding their nationwide SEND provision and Family Support outreach programme.

Families will have access to 1:1 support, coffee mornings, Stay and Play sessions, and holiday playschemes offering respite and tailored safe environments for children with additional needs.

Lee Friend, Chief Operating Officer at Dingley’s Promise, said: “Where the right early intervention can be provided at the right time, it can be transformational for children's long-term outcomes.

"We are very excited to be opening a Dingley's Promise specialist centre within Wiltshire to offer local children with SEND and their families the vital support and guidance needed in the earliest months and years of their child's life.”

A Wiltshire Council initiative

The centre represents Wiltshire Council’s commitment to inclusive education. Cllr Jon Hubbard, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "We are delighted to be opening Dingley's Promise, which will provide a fifth District Specialist Centre in Tidworth.

"These centres play a vital role in giving children with SEND the best possible start in life. By working closely with families and early years providers, we can ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

"The addition of a District Specialist Centre in Tidworth strengthens our commitment to inclusive education and support across Wiltshire.”

With over 40 years of SEND expertise, Dingley's Promise has delivered training to over 29,000 educators across England, building networks that promote inclusion and ensure that every child feels supported, included, and able to thrive.

An opening event for the centre will be held on Wednesday 28th January, with the opportunity for people to meet staff and learn more about how Dingley's Promise will support children and families. We can register our interest to be at the event here.
