Tidworth and Perham Down residents have received a ‘thank you’ letter from King Charles III.

The Royal correspondence secretary has responded to the Town Council, on behalf of His Majesty, for its kind messages after Queen Elizabeth II's passing.

They'd sent a letter and Book of Condolence to the King following the death of his mother last September.

In the letter, addressed to Tidworth Town Clerk Carly Lovell, the secretary said the King was touched by their message of sympathy and the tributes paid to ‘his beloved mother.’

The letter read:

“The King has asked me to thank you for your letter on behalf of the Tidworth and Perham Down community with which you enclosed a Book of Condolence.

“His Majesty was greatly touched by your message of sympathy and the tributes to his beloved mother, Queen Elizabeth II, from all the signatories and has asked me to send his warmest thanks and very best wishes.”

It follows a similar letter sent to the children at a Salisbury nursery school, after they held a teddy bear's picnic and sent pictures to the King.
