Tidworth drink driver banned and handed fine

A Tidworth man's been fined and disqualified from getting behind the wheel after admitting drink driving and possessing an offensive weapon,

Dean Johnson, who's 42, was arrested on Lahore Road on December 4th, after trying to walk away from the scene of a two car collision.

He was driving one of the vehicles involved, and failed a roadside breath test.

He blew more than three times over the legal limit during a second sample taken in custody.

Officers also found a catapult and ball bearings in the door pocket of his vehicle.

Johnson appeared before Salisbury Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Tuesday 3rd January).

He pleaded guilty to driving over the specified legal limit of alcohol and possession of an offensive weapon.

He's been disqualified from driving for 26 months, fined ÂŁ738 and ordered to pay a further ÂŁ380 in costs and surcharges.
