Thunderstorm weather warning issued for South Wiltshire and West Hampshire
It comes in to force tonight (Wednesday 16th June)
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms across South Wiltshire and West Hampshire.
The yellow warning comes into force at 18:00 tonight (Wednesday 16th June) and ends at 23:59pm on Thursday (17th June).
It's then issued again from Friday at 9am until Saturday at 9am.
It follows days of warm and sunny weather, with Monday being the hottest day of the year so far.
The Met Office says there is the potential for travel disruption and flooding.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
- There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
- There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
