Three horses killed in road crash on A36

The animals were reported loose on Sunday night

Three horses have been killed in a road crash on the A36.

Officers responded to reports of horses loose on the road at around 11pm on Sunday.

They received reports of one road traffic collision involving three of the horses and a car.

The animals died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed for a number of hours between Stapleford and Steeple Langford, while emergency services attended.

Another horse was tracked down and was safely contained, while the owners were contacted.
