3 drink-drivers caught yesterday afternoon in Tidworth and Bulford
Police spotted a second offender, whilst dealing with the first
In the space of 11 hours yesterday afternoon (Sat 26 March), two drink drivers and one potential drink driver have been arrested by Police officers from Amesbury.
The first was stopped at 1:10pm lunchtime after a car was seen driving erratically in Tidworth. The driver pulled into Tesco's to do a spot of shopping before stumbling back to their vehicle where they were intervened by officers before they could drive off.
The driver was breathalysed and blew 132UG, over three times the legal limit of 35UG. The driver's now facing court.
The second driver was caught, also in the Tesco's car park, whilst officers were dealing with the first incident (you couldn’t make it up!). The driver approached Police, and besides causing a nuisance and swearing, they stunk of alcohol. The driver refused to be breathalysed by Police and was arrested for failing to provide a roadside breath specimen and for causing harassment, alarm, and distress to other members of the public.
A search of the driver also revealed they were carrying a knife (a folding credit card knife with locking capability). The driver was further arrested for being in possession of a bladed article. In custody the driver still refused to be breathalysed. They're also facing a day in court.
The third drink-driver was caught after being seen driving erratically in Bulford just before midnight. Police pulled the driver over, breathalysed them, and the driver blew 65UG, almost twice the legal limit. That driver was also arrested for drink driving and taken into custody. The driver's been charged with drink driving and will also go to court.
