Salisbury District Hospital have confirmed that three patients have passed away there, having tested positive for Covid-19.

This means the total number of fatalities is at 241 since the pandemic began.

It means there was 6 deaths in 5 days last week.

A spokesperson for Salisbury District Hospital said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a further three patients who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died on Friday 4th February. Two patient’s were in their 80s and the other patient was in his 70s. All had underlying health conditions. 241 patients in total have now passed away.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time.

COVID-19 positive patients being treated at the hospital continue to fluctuate and sadly we also continue to experience COVID-19 related deaths. There are currently 24 COVID-19 positive patients being treated at the hospital.

We would ask the public to remain cautious and to take appropriate precautions to avoid transmission, such as mask wearing in crowded places and good hand hygiene. In addition, people should take up the invitation for a COVID-19 vaccine when offered. It is never too late to get a first vaccine.”
