Police investigating the use of counterfeit money in a Wilton shop have also found a 'cannabis factory' in the town.

Officers made the discovery on New Year's Eve (Saturday 31st December).

A 'large amount' of plants, thought to be the drug, were found and seized, as well as some mobile phones.

Around £1,000 in cash was also seized, but that isn't believed to be counterfeit.

Three people have been arrested:

  • A 53 year old man on suspicion of fraud by false representation and being concerned in the cultivation of a Class B drug
  • A 40 year old man on suspicion of fraud by false representation and being concerned in the cultivation of a Class B drug
  • A 50 year old woman on suspicion of being concerned in the cultivation of a Class B drug

All three of them have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
