More than £15,000 has been raised for Salisbury charities, thanks to the city's popular Christmas Tree Festival.

Entry to the event at St Thomas's Church at the beginning of December was free, but donations were taken from people as they left.

The church was filled with more than 100 trees for a week, all individually decorated by different groups, schools, workplaces and others.

The trees spread right around the church, all with a different take on the festivities

We're told over 11,470 people went to see the festive arrangements, as well as the live music throughout.

The money raised at the Festival has been split between two local charities, and St Thomas's itself.

Alzheimer's Support and the Friends of Salisbury Shopmobility have each been given cheques for £5,059.45, with the remainder staying within the church.

The Festival is a hugely popular start to Christmas in Salisbury

St Thomas's have said it was a great success:

"This outstanding result was a heartening reminder that the generous beating heart of Salisbury remains firm despite the difficulties everyone is having to face at the moment."
