A public vote has seen Alabare given the third and final charity space on the Salisbury MONOPOLY board.

The homelessness charity will take up a 'Community Chest' square after the city's residents were asked to nominate local organisations who deserved to be recognised in the new game.

Alabare join Salisbury Hospice Charity and the Stars Appeal in making up the list.

Laura Knight, the charity's Community Engagement Officer, told Greatest Hits Radio:

"We were so excited to hear Salisbury had beaten 19 other cities to get it's own version of MONOPOLY.

At Alabare we were so thrilled to be chosen as a Community Chest space, the outbreak of the pandemic has been really difficult for everyone, but in particular our clients that we support daily that often have complex needs with many suffering from mental ill health. Our staff have worked tirelessly to minimise the disruption caused and thanks to the wonderful support from the Salisbury community, we've been able to adapt in order to continue to support the most vulnerable."

WHAT ELSE IS ON THE BOARD?

Last month it was confirmed Old Sarum will feature as Old Kent Road.

Tomorrow morning (Wednesday 14th October) all locations will be revealed as the game goes on sale.

However Winning Moves UK, the game's makers, have revealed Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge have polled well.

We have been told many of the Chance and Community Chest cards are Salisbury themed too.

One card will say: 'Oops. You accidentally spill your coffee over one of the four surviving copies of the Magna Carta - Go To Jail and Do Not Pass GO'.

Another, very much in the spirit of 2020 compared to when MONOPOLY was invented in the 1930s, says: 'You want to buy some fresh veggies. Go to Charter Market. If you Pass GO, collect M200'.

The game's makers have said that Salisbury Cathedral did well in the public vote

A Winning Moves UK spokesperson said:

"We hope the game can go some way to lifting spirits in this most unprecedented of times.

Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and Old Sarum each polled exceptionally well.

We would like to formally thank each and every person who sent in nominations. The game will be featuring the great and good of the city – and is, in effect, A Love Letter to Salisbury. We have been wonderfully spoilt for choice putting this edition together."

The board will be able to purchase from stores like Waterstones and WHSmith in the city.
