Thieves attempt to steal JCB from Collingbourne Kingston

Police are asking people to take steps to keep rural vehicles secure

Thieves have attempted to steal a JCB from Collingbourne Kingston - but were thwarted by security measures.

Suspects are believed to have removed a gate at around 11.00pm last Thursday (2nd November) to take the vehicle.

But prevention tactics installed by the owner means the JCB couldn't be started and offenders left the scene.

There's an appeal for information into the incident though.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 54230115880.

Advice from Wiltshire Police

Officers say they're increasing their patrols in the Collingbournes, aiming to deter further incidents.

They're are also reminding people, in rural areas especially, to take extra steps to keep their vehicles secure.

Trackers, alarms, immobilisersto the vehicle or CCTV are all suggested as possible measures that could prevent thefts of rural and farm machinery.
