First phase of work on The Halve in Trowbridge due to finish today
Wiltshire Council say that'll mean some road closures are lifted
The first phase of works of The Halve and Roundstone Street in Trowbridge is due to be completed today (Tuesday 25th March).
Wiltshire Council say the initial improvements to active travel routes and public spaces should be done towards the end of this afternoon.
That'll mean some road closures can be lifted there.
The Halve will reopen to traffic from the mini-roundabout at Duke Street to the Hilperton Road roundabout once contractors have cleared the area.
There's more works to come though, with the second phase starting tomorrow (Wednesday 26th March).
Roundstone Street will be the focus, with works ongoing there until the beginning of May.
That means the route will be closed from Yerbury Street to the Hilperton Road roundabout, with the bus, taxi and cycle gate temporarily suspended.
The third phase is then planned for early May through to July, further along Roundstone Street, with the road closure shifting along to the Yerbury Street junction, to the Polebarn Road junction.
All the works aim to improve the area for pedestrians, by widening footpaths and putting in formal crossing points for people using Roundstone Street towards Hilperton Road.
Contractors will be on site between 7.00am and 7.00pm, Monday to Saturday, with pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
Dedicated traffic management operatives will be present to assist motorists and pedestrians as required.
Some overnight road resurfacing will also be carried out at three points during the project, between 7.00pm and 11:59pm, with further information released nearer the time.
Parvis Khansari, Wiltshire Council Corporate Director for Place said: "We understand these works may cause some disruption, and we appreciate the continued patience and understanding of local businesses and residents.
"To minimise the impact, there will be a break during the summer holiday period when works will temporarily pause. The final phase will then resume from October 2025 to March 2026 to complete the works.”
