People to pay respects to the Queen during thanksgiving service at Salisbury Cathedral
Everyone is welcome to join
People will be paying their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II later today (Sunday 18th September) at Salisbury Cathedral.
They're holding a special Thanksgiving service, with local dignitaries being invited to attend the event at 4:30pm.
It will celebrate the life of Her Majesty, remembering what she achieved across her 70 years of service.
The Right Reverend Stephen Lake, the Bishop of Salisbury, will preach at the service.
Members of the public are also welcome to pay their respects.
There will also be a prayer for King Charles III, our new monarch.
The Cathedral will be remaining open for people to pray and reflect at their own time, outside of services.
So far, more than 2000 people have signed the Book of Condolence there, with more expected in the coming days.
The Cathedral will return to normal services and visiting hours on Tuesday 20th September.
