Teenage girl assaulted in Tidworth woodland
The 17 year old victim was attacked by a man on Thursday evening
A 17 year old girl's been assaulted as she walked alone through a wooded area in Tidworth.
This happened close to the Cricket Ground, off the A338, at around 6.25pm on Thursday (27th January).
A man approached her and assaulted her.
DESCRIPTION
The offender is described as:
- White
- Aged between 25 and 35
- 6 feet tall
- Medium build
- Brown hair with a long floppy fringe
- Clean shaven
- Wearing a dark hooded top and possibly dark jogging bottoms
Police believe there could have been witnesses to this, given its location next to the busy A338 and being close to the car park for Tidworth Free Ride.
It's thought there were people in the car park at the time, and there's a direct appeal for any of those people who might be able to help to get in touch with officers.
Detective Inspector Lucy Thorne said:
“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing but we would like to reassure the public that there's an increased police presence in the area - if you are concerned please approach these officers and speak to them.
“Incidents of this nature are taken very seriously and we are currently carrying out extensive enquiries to identify the person responsible.
“We’d urge residents to be mindful of their own personal safety while out and about and report any suspicious behaviour to police immediately.”
Anyone who was driving along the A338 at the time is asked to check any dash cam footage and pass on details if necessary.
