Last updated 28th Nov 2020
Police have arrested a man in Tidworth in the early hours of this morning (Sat 28 Nov 2020) for drink driving.
Officers from Team 2's night shift spotted a vehicle driving erratically. When the vehicle was stopped the driver's roadside breath test registered 127 (the legal limit is 35).
He was taken to Melksham police station where, two hours after his initial arrest, he gave a second breath test of 95, which is still over twice the legal limit.
Police say the driver's been charged with drink driving and now faces court.
DEADLY CONSEQUENCES
Amesbury Police said:
"Not only did the driver put himself in danger but also other road users and officers could have been typing up a very different update had the vehicle crashed! This is a kind reminder to road users that Christmas will soon be upon us, this is not an excuse to drink drive, think before getting behind the wheel because the actions you take could have a major impact on someone else's life."
SEVERAL DRINK DRIVERS
Overnight at least FOUR people were arrested and taken into custody for driving while over the limit for Drink or Drugs in Wiltshire.
This vehicle was seen in Wilton where the 23 year old driver decided to draw attention to themselves. He was arrested for failing to give a specimen of breath but later blew 56 in Custody (the legal limit being 35). He also caused criminal damage to a police van, as well as driving without a license or insurance and possession of a blade article.
