A suspected grenade has been found in Salisbury, with cordons put in place in the city centre.

The item was discovered in Kivel Court, close to the entrance for Central Car Park, at around 2.00pm today (Monday 6th March).

An Explosive Ordnance Team has been on the scene through the afternoon.

Wiltshire Police tell us a controlled explosion has now taken place.

Traffic has been heavy in the area around the cordon, including on the A36 Churchill Way.

The restrictions are now being lifted by Wiltshire Police.

This comes just a few days after some suspected WW2 munitions were found in the River Avon in Salisbury, near to the site of today's incident.
