Some suspected explosives have been found in Amesbury - with the item now safely disposed of.

Builders working on Salisbury Street discovered them at around 9.50am today (Thursday 2nd February) and called Wiltshire Police.

We're told it was at the back of a bakery there.

Explosive Ordnance experts have been on the scene.

They've taken the items to a nearby field to safely dispose of them.

A 100 metre cordon was set up while the item was made safe, but that's now been lifted.

Wiltshire Police tell us it's believed it was a 'small amount of suspected dynamite, possibly from war-time'.
