Hampshire families urged to take up thousands of summer holiday activity spaces
Over 140 programmes are available over the summer
Places on over 140 holiday activity schemes are on offer to children eligible for free school meals in Hampshire this summer.
Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) is a Government funded scheme and Hampshire County Council, working with schools across the county, is encouraging parents and carers to take up the thousands of places on offer so children can enjoy healthy food and fun activities.
Hampshire County Council’s Executive Lead Member for Children’s Services, Councillor Edward Heron, said: “If your children receive income-related free school meals in Hampshire, then I highly recommend you check out this fantastic free programme.
“The fun and enriching experiences they’ll enjoy as part of our HAF scheme – whether it’s learning to ride a bike, playing a new sport or taking part in cultural visits and activities – let them make the most of the school holidays without parents worrying about the cost.
“Each action-packed day includes a healthy lunch, so hard-pressed families know that their kids will be active and well-fed by our excellent providers.”
2023 is the third year HAF is being delivered and is available to children from reception to year 11 who receive income-based free school meals.
Each programme is run by a variety of providers, including schools, childcare organisations, community groups and sports clubs, with schools broadening the reach of the schemes by sharing details with eligible families.
Bookings are now open and HAF providers can be found on Hampshire’s Family Information and Services Hub, with more HAF information available here.
