"We're still here" message from Salisbury District Hospital CEO
They want to make sure people are getting the care they need
Last updated 17th Mar 2021
The CEO of Salisbury District Hospital wants people to know that they are still open despite the pandemic.
Now that the number of Covid-19 patients has significantly dropped, Stacey Hunter wants to make sure those needing help for other problems is getting it.
Some services were had to be stopped or scaled back in January due to being under intense pressure, but those should be returning soon.
Stacey told Greatest Hits Radio:
"I just want to reiterate to our local communities that actually we are still here, we are open for business, we know that people have, understandably, been more reticent than perhaps they would have been usually to come into hospital but I would want to say actually we wouldn't want you to be here if you don't need us but of all our services including our A&E department, our maternity services are still up and running, we are restarting some of the planned elective services that we had step down during January because we had use our beds and theatres for Covid work so it's really important that the local community know that and are aware that it is safe to come if you're invited for appointments and or you need to use the hospital."
Visiting is still currently suspended at the hospital, except for those receiving end of life care and patients with special needs.
Anyone planning on visiting loved ones at SDH should contact the relevant ward in advance and discuss alternative ways to keep in touch.
Access for partners to support mothers during labour remains unchanged and partners can attend with mothers for some clinics and for limited periods on the post-natal wards.
