Stars Appeal trekkers set up crafty fundraiser
A new venture's been launched to support the Salisbury District Hospital charity

The website 'Crafty Stars' has been created by a team of people who are signed up to take part in a trek to the ancient city of Petra in Jordan next year, to raise money for the Stars Appeal.
The 45 strong group of trekkers have found the fundraising for their challenge difficult this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
So they've been coming up with other ways to bring in the donations - with their latest plan being to sell homemade items and Christmas decorations online.
The items the group have made include festive wreaths made from baubles and recycled bottle corks, peg bags, toys, chutney gift sets, coat hangers and more.
Volunteer Trek Co-ordinator, Jo Maslen, said:
"It's a brilliant illustration of the amazing bond between our Stars Appeal trekkers. There are some really talented craftspeople on the team, but they couldn't have launched a website without other trekkers who are technical and graphic design whizzes."
We can see the items through the Facebook page above, or by visiting the Crafty Stars website.
The payments for the items are being taken through JustGiving, so we know all of the money raised goes directly to the Stars Appeal.
You can also support the trekkers directly by donating on the JustGiving page too.
The team will be working together to deliver the items ordered locally, while observing social distancing too.
WHAT IS THE PETRA TREK?
That will see a group of supporters trekking 100km across the Jordanian desert in April 2021, in support of the charity at Salisbury District Hospital.
Everyone taking part has their own reasons for getting involved, and they've chosen different departments or services to benefit from their portion of the fundraising.
The Stars Appeal funds things within the hospital that go above and beyond what the hospital can provide.
