The Stars Appeal have provided a well needed boost to some of Salisbury District Hospital's staff.

They teamed up with Nole Sourdough Pizza in the Market Square to deliver 165 pizzas to some of the hospital wards.

The company provided the treats at a cost price, which the charity have then been handing out to different people in a few different shifts.

On their Twitter page, the Stars Appeal said:

"Tonight we’ve been giving freshly baked sourdough pizzas to the heroic staff on the wards at Salisbury District Hospital.

Teaming up with our friends at Nole sourdough pizza, we’ve delivered 165 piping hot pizzas to Farley Respiratory Care Unit, Spire RCU, A&E, the Acute Medical Unit, Pitton Ward, Downton Ward, Durrington Ward, Chilmark Ward and Amesbury Ward (we can’t reach all the wards in one night so we’ll be back later this week).

As one of the Nurses said as they tucked in at the end of a very long shift, 'today has been really tough, but this has given me such a boost'.

Huge thanks to all our donors and fundraisers who make projects like this, which lift the spirits of those on the front line, possible."

The charity are trying to help both staff and patients throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

In order to allow them to treat those working hard you can donate to their fund through the Stars Appeal website.
