Gifts delivered to Salisbury District Hospital patients and staff

The Stars Appeal's elves have provided some festive cheer

A Christmas campaign was set up earlier this month to support the NHS staff working hard over the festive period and to provide a gift for every patient staying at SDH at this time as well.

The Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said it was necessary as the Covid-19 pandemic has meant they've not been able to accept outside donations this year.

That's where the Stars Appeal stepped in, and launched a JustGiving page to support those at Salisbury District Hospital.

The gifts were handed out by the Stars Appeal as the hospital hasn't been able to take in items from the public this year

The Appeal raised almost £1,200, which the charity has used to provide gifts for staff and patients in a Covid-secure way.

The charity's given out a total of 500 presents to patients - containing things like toiletries, treats and some home comforts.

There's also a box of chocolates for every member of staff at SDH, whether they're working or not.

That's more than 4,000 boxes!

The gifts have been made possible thanks to your donations to a special appeal

The Stars Appeal has said they're only to happy to be the festive elves, saying on their Facebook page:

"Thanks to Stars Appeal supporters, every patent in Salisbury District Hospital on Christmas Day will receive a gift. We've had the pleasure of handing these out to the hardworking NHS staff to deliver them on Christmas morning. Huge thanks to them, and of course to you, our brilliant supporters, for making this possible."
