Special Stars Appeal event raises nearly £20k

A special Stars Appeal event has raised nearly £20,000 for Salisbury District Hospital’s charity.
Hosted at Arundell’s in the Cathedral Close in Salisbury, the Late Summer Soirée was attended by more than 150 guests, who were welcomed by Lord Pembroke.
Those guests were also joined by frontline staff from the hospital, acting as ambassadors for the charity and members of the fundraising committee.
The event saw teenager Florence Burgess and David Kuzner speak about the treatment they received at the hospital and how the projects Stars Appeal has funded has made a difference to them.
There was also a presentation by Dr Tracey Parker and Dr Rowena Staples, where they revealed what projects are currently being fundraised for.
The Chairman of the Stars Appeal’s Fundraising Committee, Stephen Oxley, said: “This was the first event of its kind for us, and we are delighted with the evening and the generosity shown towards our Hospital Charity.
“I would like to thank all those who contributed towards making the evening such a success and especially those that sponsored the costs and made donations and pledges on the evening.”
The money raised from the Late Summer Soirée will fund various projects, one of which is an additional echocardiogram, which costs £142,000, for the Cardiac Investigation Unit.
£38,000 is also needed for 20 specialist cots for newborn babies on the Labour and Postnatal wards.
