Speed checks by Amesbury Police are leading to discovery of wider driving offences in South Wiltshire.

Officers were conducting speed checks on Pennings Road in Tidworth when a vehicle showing ‘blatant disregard’ for the speed limit.

The driver was stopped and it was discovered that the driver had incorrect documents, causing the vehicle to be seized and the driver reported to court.

Another driver in Tidworth was ticketed for using a mobile phone whilst driving.

A second ticket was issued to a driver in Larkhill.

This driver was caught driving on a grass verge at speed, in order to avoid the speed bump in the road.

According to the driver, the speed bumps were damaging their wheels, so they resorted to a bit of off-roading.

Officers in Amesbury have been conducting speed checks over the last week or so, in Porton, Winterbourne and Laverstock.
