Extra police patrols after spate of break-ins in Downton

Wiltshire Police received eight reports of sheds or garages broken into in the Greenacres area of Downton between Wednesday and Sunday last week (15th -19th December).

That includes a burglary at a shed at a property in Wick Lane where tools and fishing rods were taken.

Another property was targeted in Slab Lane with tools including a Stihl chainsaw and Dewalt drill and impact driver set were taken.

Inspector Tina Osborn said:

“We are taking these reports seriously and have increased patrols in the area and house-to-house enquiries have been completed.

“We continue to keep an open mind as to whether these incidents are connected and work with the local community to prevent incidents like this from occurring.

“We ask with any information or CCTV from the area that could assist officers with their investigation to contact us on 101 and quote crime reference number 54210123662.”
