People in South West urged to "take care" this jubilee weekend
Most people have got an extended weekend
The UK Health Security Agency is urging people in the South West to take care when mixing with others this weekend to make sure they're keeping safe.
The Platinum Jubilee celebrations means Thursday and Friday are both bank holidays.
Many people will be attending parties or gathering with friends and family and UKHSA want people to take precautions.
They say there are many several infectious diseases circulating, including Covid-19.
So they want us to take care when missing with people indoors and out.
Anyone who feels unwell with flu-like symptoms should stay home so not to spread anything.
There's also a warning about Monkeypox too.
Dr Charlotte Bigland, Consultant in Health Protection at UKHSA South West said:
“While fewer people are wearing masks, it’s still advisable to wear one if you are indoors or if you are mixing with lots of people or on public transport. Washing your hands frequently and ensuring you cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing can prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as lots of other common infections. The best protection against COVID-19 is to get fully vaccinated. There are walk-in vaccination centres across towns and cities in the South West.
“Monkeypox is also circulating nationally and internationally, so it’s important to for people to stay vigilant. There has been a notable number of cases identified among people who are gay, bisexual and men who have sex with men, so we are asking these groups in particular to be aware of the symptoms, particularly if they have recently had a new sexual partner.
“Anyone with unusual rashes or lesions on any part of their body should contact 111 or their local sexual health service for advice. If you think you might have Monkeypox, please phone ahead before attending a healthcare setting in person so we can ensure a good clinical experience.”
