Sherlock 'pupdate' from Hampshire Police
The force's newest canine was named during July
Sherlock is one of Hampshire Constabulary's newest recruits.
The gorgeous Cocker Spaniel puppy was paid for using money the force seized during drug operations.
Sherlock is set to become a sniffer dog.
HOW IS SHERLOCK DOING?
According to Hampshire Police Sherlock is already settled in with his host family. They will look after him for his first year.
During August he’ll start his training with the force’s Dog Section.
Right now Sherlock's been having fun playing with his ball in the park and spending time with Sheba, a 12-year-old German Shepherd who had two litters for Thames Valley Police and now lives with the family in her retirement.
Sherlock's host family told us:
“Sherlock is doing really well. He learned his new name within 48 hours, and is sitting like a dream. His recall is excellent even when we meet other dogs that he really wants to play with."
“He’s learning to leave things - not great at that yet but getting the idea - and he’s very sociable with other dogs and people of all ages."
“We’re just waiting for a break in the weather so we can get into town and other places. We’re very happy with him.”
