Wiltshire Police's Rural Crime Team say this happened on Tuesday 18th April, but details have just been released.

It's believe that sheep had been chased by a dog on the loose, and was bitten on the neck by a large animal.

In a post on social media, police said:

"Dog owners, perhaps your dog has been roaming freely in fields around Coombe Bissett and returned home with a bloody muzzle? For that is the scenario facing at least one dog owner living nearby or walking their pet on April 18th."

There's now an appeal for anyone with information about the attack, or anyone who might have witnessed it, to come forward.
