Salisbury Reds says 'significant increases' in the cost of running services is to blame for changes to bus fares from today (Monday 14 November).

The operator has reviewed the cost of its ticket prices, and has 'reluctantly' increased some prices.

Some single fares will increase by approximately 10p, 20p or 30p, but some return fares will increase between 20p and as much as 60p.

In a statement on their website, Salisbury Reds said:

"This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We have kept any prices rises to a minimum and some fares are not changing at all. Most of the changes will happen on Monday 14 November, except for our explorer tickets and network tickets, which will increase on Monday 21 November."

Some of our single fares will increase by approximately 10p, 20p or 30p and some of our return fares will increase between 20p and 60p.

As an example, an Adult dayrider paper ticket used to be ÂŁ4.70, but from today will cost you ÂŁ5.00.

The same Child dayrider paper ticket has gone from ÂŁ3.20 to the new price of ÂŁ3.40.

Bosses at the bus company say cheaper ticket prices are now usually found on their app, and that its 'theKey' ticket system is no longer being developed or supported and will be phased out as a method of buying bus tickets over the coming months.

By the beginning of summer 2023 it will be discontinued.

At the end of October Wiltshire Council confirmed that Taxi fares were also going to increase by 10% to help drivers and Taxi firms meet rising fuel costs. That hike comes into force from 1 December 2022. Read more about the Wiltshire Council Taxi fare increase here.
