Second man arrested following Pewsey stabbing

Wiltshire Police say they have arrested a second man on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Pewsey.

They made the first arrest shortly after the incident on Monday night (3rd October), but the 31 year old man from Pewsey has since been released on bail.

A 29 year old from Ramsbury is now being questioned.

The victim, a man in his 50s, sustained an injury to his abdomen in the incident, which took place at around 9.30pm on Olympian Road.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Det Insp Dean Garvin said:

“We are grateful to all of the people who have come forward to assist us with our investigation.

“We can’t solve crimes without the help of the public and your information led to our second arrest yesterday evening.

“We are still asking for any witnesses to make contact with us. We are particularly interested to hear from anyone driving in the area at the time, who may have important information captured on a dash camera.

“I want to reassure the local community that we take this matter very seriously. The CID are being supported by detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team.

“You may see an increased police presence in the town while we continue our investigation.”
