The peregrine falcons at Salisbury Cathedral have laid their second egg of the season.

It appeared at around 8:15am this morning (Thursday 18th March) and one of the birds could be seen sat covering the eggs for a while after.

The first one appeared just before midnight on Monday (15th) and it is unlikely the birds are done there, with 3-4 usually expected each year.

Last year 4 eggs were laid, which is around the usual amount, but incubation will begin after they have all appeared.

They are generally laid at 2-3 day intervals and usually take 29-30 days to hatch.

This could mean we start to see some chicks towards the end of April.
