There's a warning today (Wednesday 29th January) that Salisbury District Hospital is 'very busy' and we should consider using alternative services.

The NHS Foundation Trust has posted on social media to call on patients to only attend A&E in urgent and life-threatening emergencies.

They've suggested contacting our GPs, pharmacies or the Salisbury Walk-in Centre instead, as well as using the NHS 111 service.

Waits in the emergency department might also be longer than normal, while staff prioritise critical cases.

We're also asked not at visit patients on the wards there if we're showing any symptoms of illness ourselves.

If we have relatives or friends in hospital at the moment, there is one way that Salisbury District Hospital say we can help ease pressure on services.

In a social post they've said:

"If you have a loved one in hospital who is due for discharge, please help get them home. Many patients’ discharges are often delayed due to them not having any way of getting home, or their currently living environment not being ready for their return.

"You can help by offering a lift home from hospital; collecting prescriptions; ensuring their home is heated; or stocking their cupboard with staple food items."
