Advice from Salisbury District Hospital during junior doctors strikes

Walkouts are being held through until Tuesday (2nd July)

Salisbury District Hospital bosses say they're 'focussing on providing safe patient care' as junior doctors take further strike action.

The walk outs from 7.00am today (Thursday 27th June) until Tuesday morning (2nd July) are in a row over pay.

We're asked to consider alternatives like GP surgeries, pharmacies and the Salisbury Walk-in Centre to prevent long waits at A and E.

There's also a plea from the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, if we've been suffering certain symptoms:

"Help us protect our patients and minimise the spread of infection by staying home if you have diarrhoea and vomiting.

"Don't visit the hospital until 48 hours after symptoms clear."

People are being urged to only visit A and E in an emergency, but that shouldn't put us off getting treatment:

"Regardless of the industrial action taking place, it is really important that patients who need urgent medical care continue to come forward as normal, especially in emergency and life-threatening cases and our services will be there for these people.

"If people attend our A&E Department with a minor injury or concern please be patient as the wait may be longer than usual as critical cases will be prioritised."

Patients are also asked to still attend outpatients appointments as planned, unless they've been contacted directly about a postponement.
