The Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has today (Wednesday 30th December) confirmed that another patient in their care has died, having tested positive for Covid-19.

A woman in her 70s with underlying health conditions is the latest to have passed away.

This follows the deaths of four patients at Salisbury District Hospital over the Christmas period.

In a statement, the Salisbury Trust has said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a further patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital has sadly died. 74 patients in total have now passed away.

"The patient was in her 70’s and had underlying health conditions. Our thoughts and condolences are with the patients family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time. "

It's also been confirmed that there are currently 50 patients at SDH who have tested positive for Covid-19.

That's an increase of three since yesterday, when the hospital announced that they were suspending all visiting at the site, due to the 'intense pressure' they're facing due to the pandemic.
