It's been confirmed that another patient who was being cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for Covid-19 has passed away.

The NHS Foundation Trust has released this statement:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died on Saturday 8th January.

"The patient was in her 80s and had underlying health conditions. Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time."

The latest death takes the total number of patients to have died at SDH within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test to 234 since the pandemic began.

We're told there are currently 18 Covid positive patients being treated at our hospital.

A Lead Clinician at SDH has today (Monday 10th January) been warning about the importance of getting a Covid vaccination.

There's a reminder of the safety advice from Salisbury District Hospital too - a spokesperson said:

"We would ask the public to remain cautious and to take appropriate precautions to avoid transmission, such as mask wearing in crowded places and good hand hygiene.

"In addition, people should take up the invitation for a COVID-19 vaccine when offered. It is never too late to get a first vaccine. COVID-19 booster vaccinations are also available for those who are eligible.”
