Anyone visiting the Salisbury District Hospital site in the coming days and weeks are being asked to wear face masks once again.

The NHS Foundation Trust say they're bringing back the policy 'due to the growing number of Covid-19 cases in the community and the increasing number of inpatients testing positive.

Face coverings must be worn by all visitors and patients while in any of the buildings on site.

Dr Peter Collins, Chief Medical Officer, said:

“We are seeing an increasing number of people in the community testing positive for COVID-19 and this is putting growing pressure on our staff and services.

"Like many other hospitals in the region we are therefore asking all visitors and patients to wear a mask when visiting the hospital. The public’s cooperation will mean our services are safer and our staff can work more effectively. Thank you for your continued support.”

Staff are also being asked to wear masks in all clinical areas and corridors throughout the hospital.

Good hand hygiene and social distancing where possible is also being encouraged.

Latest Government figures show a 32.4% jump in Covid infections in Wiltshire over the week to July 1st.

1,586 cases were confirmed - an increase of 388 compared to the previous week.
