It's been a busy morning for the maternity department at Salisbury District Hospital this Christmas Day (Friday 25th December).

The first little one arrived at half past midnight - a little girl, weighing 9 lbs.

She's yet to be named and will be joining a merry band of children.

The baby has six brothers and sisters at home waiting for their new sibling.

Another little girl was born at 9.17am today, weighing 5 lbs 13 oz.

There's no name yet for her either just yet.

Lead Midwife Vicky Marston said:

“The maternity team work 24hrs a day 7 days a week to support mothers deliver their babies and every birth is special. But those born on Christmas Day always bring an extra smile to our face.

"In the midst of very difficult times for everyone I feel it’s important to celebrate the joy that new life brings.”
