Sarum Academy rated ‘good’ by Ofsted

Teachers have been praised for their strong subject knowledge

Sarum Academy school in Salisbury has retained its ofsted rating of ‘good’ following inspection at the end of February.

Ofsted officials found the pupils attending the secondary school are ‘safe and happy’, as well as ‘kind and respectful’.

Headteacher Jen Moore said: “This is a very positive report both for us as a school and for the local community. I am delighted that the inspection team recognise the tremendous work that goes on at Sarum and the praise for our pupils is a pleasure to read.”

Teachers were found to have strong knowledge of their subjects, while the strength of the schools curriculum was praised.

The report added that children are part of an ‘inclusive school where children can be themselves’, while also noting that pupil develop ‘positive attitudes towards others’ and become self-reliant and resilient.

The school’s extra facilities, including a brand-new Football Academy allows students in the Sixth Form to access a variety of A Level and vocational qualifications.

The report from Ofsted highlighted a key area of improvement, focussing on assessment to ensure that pupils are ‘able to remember important ideas in the long term’ and build on their existing knowledge.
