A floral dragon, who first made an appearance in Salisbury in 1999 has returned to the city centre in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Gilbert the Dragon has been installed in Market Place, standing at approximately 8 foot tall and weighing 1.5 tonnes.

Gilbert’s body will be adorned with red, white and blue plants along with a big 70 on his chest to celebrate the Jubilee.

Alongside his return, Salisbury City Council’s Parks Team have been decorating other parts of the city too.

They've put red, while and blue displays, ahead of next weeks celebrations.

It includes over 370 hanging baskets and 30 flower towers/planters.

Cllr Alan Bayliss, one of the Council’s Leaders, said:

“I want to say a big thank you to the Parks Team for their hard work in once again decorating the city with the beautiful floral displays. They enhance the city’s appearance every year and it is great to see the Queen’s Jubilee celebrated in this way.”
